Enjoy Cool Water Play on Your Summer Trip to Museom Village
Yeongju City, North Gyeongsang Province, will operate an outdoor "floor fountain" at the Cheonjiin Traditional Thought Experience Center from July 8 to August 20 for summer visitors.
This floor fountain operation is a limited-time summer program by Yeongju City, aiming to transform the Cheonjiin Traditional Thought Experience Center from a simple exhibition hall into a family-friendly summer retreat.
The floor fountain, located outdoors at the Experience Center (Munsu-myeon, Museom-ro), covers an area of 89 square meters and has a total water storage capacity of 43 cubic meters. The fountain will be in operation from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., running for 50 minutes followed by a 10-minute break. However, operation will be temporarily suspended during lunchtime (12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.), and the fountain will not operate on Mondays or on rainy days.
A city official stated, "As we expect many children to visit in order to cool off from the heat, we will make every effort to ensure safety and hygiene management."
Accordingly, a systematic management system will be implemented, including weekly cleaning of the water storage tank, water quality inspections every two weeks, and the deployment of on-site safety management personnel at all times.
The fountain is limited to children of elementary school age or younger, with a maximum capacity of 20 users at a time. For groups of 10 or more (such as daycare centers), advance phone reservations are required, and if there are people waiting, each group will be limited to a maximum of one hour of use.
Kim Jonggil, head of Yeongju City's Culture and Arts Division, said, "We hope the Cheonjiin Experience Center's floor fountain will become a place of relaxation and enjoyment for families visiting during the summer," adding, "We will create a pleasant environment through thorough hygiene and safety management."
Since its opening in 2020, the Cheonjiin Traditional Thought Experience Center has featured a variety of complex cultural facilities, including exhibition and experience spaces themed on traditional thought such as the Astronomy Hall, Feng Shui Hall, and Human Hall, as well as a Children's Experience Center, an unmanned self-photo studio, and an unmanned cafe.
In addition to regular programs such as making pinwheels, folding ttakji, and making keyrings, the center also offers a variety of themed experiential activities each month, making it a popular cultural space for children during summer vacation. For more information about the programs, please visit the center's website or contact by phone.
