Kyungpook National University Mobilizes for Normalization of Medical School Operations, "Close Cooperation with Ministry of Education"

Kyungpook National University has begun taking full-scale measures to normalize the academic operations of its College of Medicine.

The university announced on July 4 that it has been maintaining close communication with its members to seek practical solutions for the normalization of the College of Medicine's academic affairs. As part of these efforts, it held student meetings for current medical students over two days, June 30 and July 1.

These meetings were directly organized by the College of Medicine's leadership to address students' accumulated concerns resulting from the prolonged suspension of academic activities and to establish concrete support measures for their return.

A university official explained, "The meetings were planned not as a mere formality, but to directly listen to the diverse voices of students and to facilitate sincere discussions about returning. In addition, a survey was conducted to gauge students' intentions to return, which will be used as a practical reference for future academic operations."

According to the survey results, 89.9% of all respondents expressed their intention to return, demonstrating strong expectations and determination for the normalization of academic affairs.

Furthermore, based on these results, Kyungpook National University is actively considering the addition of summer session courses this year to minimize gaps in medical education and to reduce the negative impact on students caused by "Tripling"?a situation where three different cohorts take the same year’s courses simultaneously due to collective academic delays.

Through these measures, the university aims to quickly restore the interrupted curriculum and minimize delays in students' academic progress.

However, the university emphasized that such measures to normalize the College of Medicine's academic operations have limitations if pursued by the university alone. Therefore, it plans to maintain close cooperation with the Ministry of Education to ensure these initiatives proceed smoothly.

A university official stated, "Given the positive impact that the prompt recovery of medical education can have on society as a whole, we believe it is essential for the government and the university to seek solutions together."
