Recharge Limit Increased from July... Gongju City Expects to Boost Local Consumption
On July 4, Gongju City announced that it will raise the monthly recharge limit of 'Gongju Pay', the first mobile local gift certificate in South Chungcheong Province, to 1 million won.
This measure follows the government's securing of a total budget of 1 trillion won for local gift certificates through this year's supplementary budget. In response to the national funding support, the city decided on this step as a measure to boost local consumption.
Gongju Pay can now be recharged up to 1 million won per month, and users can receive up to 100,000 won in benefits through a 10% cashback on the recharge amount. The ongoing 10% discount benefit will also remain in place, which is expected to further increase actual consumer satisfaction.
Since last year, Gongju Pay has consistently provided a 10% discount benefit, receiving positive feedback from citizens. As of June, the accumulated number of subscribers reached approximately 48,000.
In the first half of this year, the city invested 2.58 billion won of municipal funds to support Gongju Pay discounts, continuing its investment to revitalize the local economy.
This expansion of the recharge limit is in accordance with the revised 'Comprehensive Guidelines for the Local Gift Certificate Issuance Support Project' by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. The city plans to actively promote this to citizens through the Gongju Pay app, the city hall website, and social media.
Mayor Choi Woncheol stated, "Gongju Pay has established itself as a leading means of good consumption that revitalizes local businesses," and added, "With the increase in the recharge limit, we will further strengthen operations so that more citizens and small business owners can enjoy tangible benefits."
