The game that day was a matchup between the Hanwha Eagles and the NC Dinos. A total of 746 executives and employees from affiliates such as Hanwha TotalEnergies, Hanwha Aerospace, and Hanwha Corporation Global Division cheered from the stands. Chairman Kim stayed with them from the 8th inning through to the end of the game in the 11th inning of extra innings.
Previously, on June 17, Chairman Kim had visited Hanwha TotalEnergies' Daesan plant in Seosan, South Chungcheong Province, where he told employees, "See you soon in Daejeon," signaling a future reunion. At that time, he promised a cheering event to employees who expressed regret at his departure, and he followed through on that promise with this visit.
Chairman Kim energized the atmosphere at the stadium with his enthusiastic cheering. Until the very end of the game, he chanted "Choegang Hanwha" ("Strongest Hanwha") together with the employees, sharing in their excitement. An employee from Hanwha TotalEnergies said, "I am grateful that the chairman personally created this opportunity to cheer together," adding, "His sincerity toward the employees was deeply moving."
Chairman Kim's love for the Eagles is well known. Since the team's founding in 1986, he has led the club as owner, and in recent years, he has continued to make aggressive investments, including recruiting top-tier players. Last year, he visited the Daejeon stadium nine times to support the Eagles, and as of this day, he has visited four times this year. As of July 4, the Hanwha Eagles are leading the KBO League.
