In the executive order signed on the 3rd (local time), President Trump stated, "From the wonder of the Grand Canyon to the tranquility of the Great Smoky Mountains, America's national parks have provided unforgettable memories to American families for generations," adding, "It is the policy of my administration to preserve such opportunities for future generations of American families by raising entrance fees for foreign tourists."

President Trump instructed the Secretary of the Interior to develop a strategy to appropriately increase entrance or recreation pass fees for non-U.S. residents in order to boost national park revenues and improve the recreation experience.

Additionally, in another executive order signed on the same day, President Trump established a committee called 'Make America Beautiful Again,' appointing the Secretary of the Interior as its chair, and directed the committee to advise the President on ways to preserve national parks and natural resources.
