71 Real Estate Agents Appointed as Good Neighbor Affiliates
Public-Private Collaboration to Eliminate Welfare Blind Spots
Seocho-gu in Seoul has appointed 71 local licensed real estate agents as Honorary Social Welfare Officers. The initiative aims to strengthen the community-based crisis detection system and to quickly identify and support residents who may be in welfare blind spots.

The licensed real estate agents, appointed as unpaid and honorary officers, are tasked with immediately reporting any suspected crisis households they encounter during their daily brokerage activities to the relevant local community center. Based on these reports, the district expects to swiftly identify residents in need and provide them with appropriate welfare services.
Notably, Seocho-gu is the first district among Seoul’s autonomous districts to designate licensed real estate offices as Honorary Social Welfare Officers in cooperation with the Seocho-gu branch of the Korea Association of Realtors. This initiative is highly regarded as a participatory welfare model created in collaboration with the local community.
Going forward, the district plans to display "Good Neighbor Affiliate" signboards at the designated real estate offices. In addition, for seniors and others who have difficulty using electronic devices during weekdays, these "Good Neighbor Affiliate" offices will also offer copying and fax services.
Meanwhile, on June 27, the district held an inauguration ceremony for the "Seocho-gu Honorary Social Welfare Officers (Good Neighbor Affiliates)" at the district office’s main auditorium. Seocho-gu plans to expand the designation of honorary officers among licensed real estate agents and to actively promote a field-oriented public-private partnership welfare model that also checks on the well-being of residents.
Seocho-gu Mayor Jeon Sungsoo stated, "We are monitoring every corner of Seocho-gu with the belief that invisible crises can exist anywhere," adding, "We will continue to expand welfare cooperation models involving both the public and private sectors to create a warm Seocho without welfare blind spots."
