This season, a total of six teams?Goyang Holt, Daegu Metropolitan City Hall, Mugunghwa Electronics, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Chuncheon Tigers, and Coway Bluewheels?will participate. The regular season will be held from July 4 to October 26 across seven venues nationwide, with 45 games, followed by the playoffs from November 28 to 30, and the championship finals from December 2 to 4, to determine the ultimate winner.
About 200 people, including officials from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korea Paralympic Committee, the Korea Wheelchair Basketball Association, and the six participating teams, will attend the opening ceremony. After the ceremony, the opening game will take place between Coway Bluewheels, last year's championship winner, and Chuncheon Tigers, who finished second in the regular season. Around 1,000 students from Ilseong Girls' Middle and High School will join as a cheering squad to add to the excitement, and various on-site events will be held during the game for the audience to enjoy together.
All Wheelchair Basketball League games are open to the public free of charge, and every match, including the opening game, will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel 'Korea Wheelchair Basketball League TV.' Detailed schedules and updates about the league can be found on the official KWBL website.
A policy official from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated, "Just as the tournament slogan 'Hope, Passion, and Challenge' suggests, I believe every athlete has come this far by going through a process of challenging themselves to overcome their limits with hope and passion," adding, "The Ministry plans to continue supporting the systematic development of sports for people with disabilities by expanding leagues by sport and supporting the establishment of professional teams."
