Considering that adult lovebugs are pests with virtually no natural predators, making natural removal practically impossible, the city has mobilized a total of 14 pest control vehicles from various departments, including the Forest Department, the Agricultural Technology Center (Livestock Division and Technical Support Division), the Urban Environment Office (Parks Division), and the Public Health Center (Infectious Disease Control Division), to carry out comprehensive joint pest control operations.

In particular, the Public Health Center is using drones to conduct pest control in areas that are difficult for vehicles to access, such as riversides and walking trails, thereby addressing blind spots in pest control coverage.

This drone-based pest control method was newly introduced this year and has received positive feedback from residents because it enables thorough coverage of densely populated urban areas and zones that are inaccessible to vehicles.

Yangju City is also advising residents on measures to prevent lovebugs from entering indoor spaces, including installing and maintaining window screens, removing bugs with vacuum cleaners, and using insecticide sprayers.

An official from the Infectious Disease Control Division stated, "We will continue to do our utmost to protect the health and safe living environment of our citizens through ongoing monitoring and scientific pest control activities."
