"Finalizing Member Selection Over the Weekend...
Moving Forward Quickly"
The People Power Party's Innovation Committee is expected to complete its member selection process over the weekend and officially begin activities starting next week.
On July 3, Ahn Cheolsoo, who has been nominated as the chairperson of the Innovation Committee, met with Song Eonseok, the acting emergency committee chair and floor leader, for a closed-door meeting at the National Assembly. Afterward, he told reporters, "We will finalize discussions on the committee members over the weekend and seek approval from the Emergency Committee next Monday."
Regarding the composition of the committee, Ahn stated, "The Innovation Committee will include two incumbent lawmakers, two regional party association heads who are not current lawmakers, and two external figures." He added, "Since last night and into this morning, there have been so many requests from party lawmakers and regional association heads who wish to join the committee that it has become difficult to manage."
The Innovation Committee plans to hold meetings every Wednesday at 9 a.m. Ahn said, "Rather than making announcements just once a week, we will move quickly and discuss various issues as needed." He continued, "We will establish a white paper task force under the committee and aim to complete and announce the white paper before the last week of July."
He added, "We will invite external experts to lead the white paper task force and oversee its writing," explaining, "The white paper team will be responsible for a comprehensive reflection on the past, while our Innovation Committee will focus on drawing up future-oriented plans for how to drive change within the party."
Regarding the scope of the committee's activities, Ahn said, "It is entirely my responsibility to determine which specific areas the Innovation Committee will address," and added, "Once the committee is formed, we will discuss the extent of our work."
