Strengthening Local Community Capacity Receives Praise
Establishment of a Local Cultural Complex Hub Draws Attention
On July 3, Gokseong County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Cho Sangrae) announced that the Deulmal Center in Moksadong-myeon had been selected as an outstanding case in the "2025 Regional Balanced Development Project Discretionary Account Best Practices," hosted by the Presidential Committee for the Era of Local Autonomy.
The Presidential Committee for the Era of Local Autonomy evaluates the implementation of regional balanced development projects every year in order to spread successful models of balanced development and to reward projects and individuals that have achieved excellent results. This year, after a document review and on-site evaluation, the Deulmal Center in Moksadong-myeon was ultimately selected as an outstanding case in the discretionary account category.
The Deulmal Center in Moksadong-myeon was promoted as part of the General Rural Fishing Village Development Project and received high marks for its contribution to improving rural settlement conditions and strengthening the capacity of local communities in response to the crisis of rural depopulation.
In particular, the center drew attention for establishing itself as a local cultural complex hub, as residents voluntarily participated in organizing and operating a variety of programs, including an unmanned cafe, an English conversation class for youth, and a senior dance club.
Governor Cho Sangrae stated, "This selection as an outstanding case is a valuable achievement made possible by the active participation and community spirit of Gokseong residents," and added, "We will continue to promote balanced development policies centered on our residents in the future."
