Gijang County Mayor Jung Jongbok Makes Emergency Visit to Apartment Fire Site... "Deepest Condolences to Bereaved Families, All-out Practical Support"

Gijang County in Busan has taken swift action to support the bereaved families who lost their loved ones in the recent fire tragedy.


On the morning of July 3, Gijang County Mayor Jung Jongbok visited the site of the apartment fire in Gijang-eup, personally inspecting the emergency response and instructing officials to prepare proactive measures for substantial victim support and prevention of similar incidents in the future.

Mayor Jung, together with officials from related agencies such as the fire department and police, examined the scene and held an urgent discussion on the cause of the fire and the direction for future recovery efforts. At the site, Mayor Jung stated, "I am devastated by the loss of a young life in this fire," and added, "I pray for the children and offer my deepest condolences."


Immediately after the incident, Gijang County activated an emergency support system, providing Red Cross relief supplies as a priority. The county is currently considering comprehensive support measures for the affected families, including ▲housing assistance ▲integrated case management ▲psychological counseling services. In particular, if necessary, psychological treatment in cooperation with the Gijang County Mental Health Welfare Center and residential environment restoration such as cleaning, wallpapering, and flooring in collaboration with the Gijang County Volunteer Center will also be provided.


On this day, Mayor Jung ordered the relevant departments to "immediately mobilize all administrative resources to ensure practical and prompt support for the victims and their families." He also strongly instructed, "In light of this incident, post fire prevention notices in all apartment complexes and immediately conduct special safety inspections of workplaces, public facilities, and apartment buildings."


He further emphasized, "The safety of our residents is the top priority of the administration," and added, "We will strengthen preventive activities and implement effective safety policies to proactively respond not only to fires but to all disasters."
