The Chungnam Provincial Council has begun exploring ways to revitalize tourism in Chungnam by incorporating the province's food culture.

On July 3, the council's "Research Group for Revitalizing Chungnam Tourism Using Food Content" held its second meeting and the kickoff report meeting for a research project in the main conference room of the Town Hall at Cheonan Dongnam District Office.

The kickoff report meeting for this research project was held to seek strategies for revitalizing tourism using Chungnam's representative food content and to discover food stories and content that reflect the region's unique historical and cultural elements.

The second meeting was attended by research group members, academic and industry experts, and representatives from the research agency, who engaged in in-depth discussions on the theme of "the convergence of food and tourism."

In particular, participants at the report meeting exchanged a variety of opinions, focusing on developing effective policy alternatives to revitalize Chungnam tourism through food. Topics included strategies for gastronomic tourism that reflect regional identity, integrating food with storytelling, and ways to connect with local festivals.

Lee Kwangok, a professor at Baekseok University, stated, "Cheonan is a city with a rich historical heritage, abundant cultural and artistic resources, and a unique local food culture. By organically connecting these assets with food content, we can not only boost tourism but also enhance the region's brand value. I will propose a comprehensive plan for this."

Lee Hyunsook, the representative of the research group and a proportional representative of the People Power Party, emphasized, "The core of this research is to systematically organize Chungnam's abundant food resources and historical and cultural assets, and to develop concrete ways to link them with the tourism industry. I will do my utmost to ensure that the research results lead to practical policies."
