On July 3, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the "2025 First Childbirth Day Commemoration Ceremony" at the City Hall Citizen Hall.
This event was the first official ceremony organized to reaffirm the community’s commitment to encouraging childbirth and creating a child-friendly environment. According to the ordinance on the commemoration of Changwon Childbirth Day, enacted last year, July 3 is designated annually as "Changwon Childbirth Day."
Hosted by Changwon City and organized by the World Couple’s Day Committee, the event was attended by over 100 citizens who came together to share the importance of life and the value of childbirth. The ceremony also included a meaningful moment in which commendations were awarded to exemplary families with multiple children and members of the dedicated low birth rate response publicity team, recognizing their efforts to overcome the declining birth rate.
In particular, all participants took part in a symbolic performance, energetically waving fans inscribed with the phrase "July 3 Changwon Childbirth Day." This performance represented the collective hope for childbirth encouragement and delivered a message wishing for the "wind of childbirth" to sweep across all of Changwon.
Jang Geumyong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, "The Childbirth Day Commemoration Ceremony is more than just a commemorative event; it marks the starting point for the community and citizens to create a childbirth-friendly culture together." He added, "We will continue to provide various support and make efforts to ensure that childbirth and parenting bring happiness to Changwon."
