NongHyup Financial Group Sets Out to Establish ESG Implementation System

NongHyup Financial Group announced that it held the "1st NongHyup Financial ESG Strategy Council" on the 2nd at its headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, presided over by Chairman Lee Chanwoo, with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) executives from the holding company and affiliates in attendance. At this council, participants focused on discussing "domestic and international ESG policy trends and response strategies" and the "results of NongHyup Financial's Social Value (SV) measurement."

NongHyup Financial Group plans to proactively respond to the government's mandatory sustainability disclosure requirements and new ESG policies following the launch of the new administration. To this end, the group will review its ESG management foundation at the group level and strengthen its practical implementation capabilities in line with policy changes.

In particular, at this meeting, the group expanded the measurement of social value?which last year was conducted for some affiliates such as the holding company, bank, life and non-life insurance, and securities?to all affiliates this year, enabling integrated measurement and analysis at the group level.

Prior to the meeting, an awards ceremony was held for an ESG business idea contest for employees, which helped increase internal interest and participation in ESG management.

Chairman Lee stated, "ESG is an essential element for a company's sustainability, and it is time to further refine our system to prepare for the future." He added, "Through an integrated ESG strategy created by all affiliates together, we will secure NongHyup's unique and differentiated competitiveness."
