Functionality and Wearing Satisfaction Differ by Product
"Choose Shoes According to Exercise Purpose and Habits"
The Korea Consumer Agency announced on July 3 that, after testing and evaluating six major badminton shoe brands, there were differences among the products in terms of functionality, durability, and user satisfaction.
The Korea Consumer Agency conducted the tests as interest in badminton shoes has grown with badminton becoming a popular everyday sport, evaluating the functionality, durability, and satisfaction of these products.
The products tested were Kawasaki 'K-086', Mizuno 'CYCLONE SPEED 4', Vitro 'FIORD', Victor 'A170II', Asics 'RIVRE CF', and Yonex 'STRIDER FLOW'.
According to the results, there were differences among the products in both 'functionality' and 'wearing satisfaction'. In terms of slip resistance on wooden floors, five products?Kawasaki (K-086), Vitro (FIORD), Victor (A170II), Asics (RIVRE CF), and Yonex (STRIDER FLOW)?performed relatively well.
The Mizuno (CYCLONE SPEED 4) product was rated as excellent for placing relatively less burden on the ankle joint during exercise.
Regarding shock absorption when landing on the floor, four products?Kawasaki (K-086), Vitro (FIORD), Victor (A170II), and Asics (RIVRE CF)?performed relatively well.
After performing exercise movements while wearing the shoes, overall satisfaction scores were highest for Asics (RIVRE CF) at 4.4 points, followed by Vitro (FIORD) and Yonex (STRIDER FLOW) at 4.1 points each.
There were also differences in durability, which refers to how sturdy the shoes are. In adhesion strength tests to determine how firmly the shoes were glued, Kawasaki (K-086) performed relatively well.
All products showed no issues in areas that repeatedly fold due to wear, indicating good durability in those regions.
For outsole (the part that touches the ground) abrasion, Vitro (FIORD) and Victor (A170II) showed a wear of 4.2 mm, while Kawasaki (K-086) showed 4.3 mm, indicating relatively good abrasion resistance.
All products met the relevant standards for safety, including the presence of harmful substances.
A representative from the Korea Consumer Agency advised, "It is important to choose a product that matches your exercise purpose and usual habits."
