Discussion on Introducing AWS Cloud Infrastructure at Domestic Sites
Hyundai Steel is partnering with global cloud company Amazon Web Services (AWS) to accelerate its digital transformation and expand the use of low-carbon steel products.
On July 3, Hyundai Steel announced that it had signed a Strategic Framework Agreement (SFA) with AWS at 'The Spheres' located at Amazon's headquarters in Seattle, USA. Through this agreement, the two companies will jointly pursue the introduction of AWS cloud infrastructure for Hyundai Steel's digital transformation, as well as explore ways to apply Hyundai Steel's low-carbon steel products in the construction of AWS data centers.

With this agreement, Hyundai Steel plans to transition the production management systems and data analysis operations at its domestic sites to an AWS cloud-based platform, and is considering establishing a real-time data integration and analysis system utilizing artificial intelligence (AI). In addition, the company will seek to apply its low-carbon steel products to AWS's global data center construction projects currently underway in the Asia-Pacific region and other areas.
Kim Seunghoe, Head of DX Promotion at Hyundai Steel, stated, "This agreement is an important starting point for maximizing synergy between the two companies. In particular, it is significant for Hyundai Steel as it pioneers the global market for low-carbon steel and strengthens its digital competitiveness. Through cooperation with AWS, we will present a new vision for the steel industry." Ozgur Tohumcu, Head of Automotive and Manufacturing at AWS, commented, "AWS and Hyundai Steel share a joint commitment to innovation for customers and the industry as a whole. We are proud to collaborate on Hyundai Steel's journey to accelerate digital transformation through cloud and AI technologies."
