The 'Ecometacity' project, which is set to reshape the future core axis of Incheon, has entered full-scale development. In May, the Incheon Metropolitan Government completed the 'Ecometacity Urban Development Project Feasibility and Master Plan Establishment Service' and officially announced the project's full-fledged launch.

Ecometacity places a strong emphasis on balancing public interest and residential environment as its core values. As a result, both the public and private sectors must collaborate to advance the project. In particular, the East Side Living Zone of Ecometacity, known as Handul District 3, is currently undergoing the approval process. This area serves as a connecting axis to the 'Royal Park City' brand being developed by DK Asia, and is expected to become Incheon's leading eco-friendly cultural complex city and a new future-oriented urban center.

Coinciding with the planned administrative division of the Geomdan District in July 2026, Ecometacity (1.96 million square meters, 590,000 pyeong) will be linked with the existing Geomdan New Town (11.1 million square meters, 3.36 million pyeong) and the privately-led Royal Park City (2 million square meters, 600,000 pyeong), evolving into a mega-city that is 4.5 times the size of Gyeyang New Town (3.33 million square meters, 1 million pyeong).

According to the Incheon Metropolitan Government, Ecometacity envisions a city with strengthened resident communities, a pedestrian-oriented urban design, a living environment in harmony with nature, future-oriented residential complexes such as smart homes, the attraction of industry-academia-research and R&D, and support for youth startups. The city aims to achieve self-sufficiency and sustainability, positioning Geomdan as the core axis of Incheon's future.

DK Asia is already leading a new paradigm in residential culture by developing the fifth-generation high-end resort city 'Royal Park City' in the Seo-gu area of Incheon. Royal Park City is a large-scale, privately-led resort city development project. The Handul District (560,000 square meters, 180,000 pyeong, 4,805 households) has completed occupancy, while Geomdan District 3 (520,000 square meters, 150,000 pyeong, 1,500 households) was supplied as Incheon's first large-scale post-sale complex and has been completed. In addition, Geomdan District 5 (420,000 square meters, 120,000 pyeong) and Wang-gil District 1 (500,000 square meters, 150,000 pyeong, 4,576 households) are also in the process of being offered for sale.

In particular, the resort city concept being developed by DK Asia goes beyond the traditional new town model by combining large-scale parks, premium leisure infrastructure, and diverse community facilities. This approach proposes a sustainable urban resort lifestyle and demonstrates differentiated urban competitiveness.

Building on this experience, DK Asia plans to develop the Handul District 3 area into an eco-friendly cultural complex city. The company has expressed its intention to lead the development of Ecometacity by leveraging the advantages of private urban development while recreating local value.

Hwang Hyojin, Deputy Mayor for Global City Affairs of Incheon, stated, "The Ecometacity urban development project will be successfully promoted through close cooperation between Incheon Metropolitan Government, Seo-gu, and related departments. The major development districts nearby, including Handul District, Geomdan District 3, Geomdan District 5, and Wang-gil District 1, as well as the surrounding Geomdan area, will become the new future center of Incheon."
