Banijay Rights Senior Vice President to Deliver Keynote Speech
Original Creators of 'Toemarok' and 'Severe Trauma Center' to Participate
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency announced on July 3 that they will hold the 'Licensing Con' at the COEX Conference Room in Seoul for two days starting July 17. This is the largest content intellectual property (IP) business conference in Korea. This year, under the theme 'Expand: Content IP,' the event will share strategies for expanding the content IP industry.
The keynote speech will be delivered by the Senior Vice President of Banijay Rights, the largest media group in Europe. As an expert with extensive experience in various IP businesses, having previously served as Head of International IP Business at WarnerMedia, the speaker will present on the topic 'The Next Vision of Global Super IPs.'
The special session will feature Marie Copp, Head of Consumer Products for Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and North Africa at Hasbro, a toy and entertainment company, and Masakazu Soeda, Head of Consumer Products and IP Business for Asia-Pacific and Middle East at Sega, a game and entertainment company. Each will discuss their respective global companies' content IP strategies.
The session highlighting the spread of domestic content IP will feature author Lee Woo-hyuk and director Kim Dong-chul, who led the animation adaptation of the novel 'Toemarok,' as well as Netflix's 'Severe Trauma Center' writer Lee Nak-jun. Won Dong-yeon, CEO of Realize Pictures, and director Kim Byung-woo, who adapted the web novel and webtoon 'Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint' into a film, and Lee Ji-min, CEO of Daedongyeojudo, who utilized the 'Return of the Mount Hua Sect' IP to promote alcoholic beverages, will also take the stage to share untold stories.
The Korea Creative Content Agency will also share key success stories in the character and music sectors. Kim Won-jung, head of Iconix's Shanghai branch, who led the popularity of 'Janmang Loopy' in China; Kim Hyun-kyung, CEO of K-Vision, who received the New Face Award at the Japan Character Awards for 'Esther Bunny'; and Lee Ho-dong, Director of the IP Business Division at Takeone Company, which produced 'Blackpink The Game,' have been invited to discuss strategies for expanding IP.
The event will also feature the Boardgame Con Conference, a platform for IP discourse. Akio Nomura, President of the Japan Board Game Developers Association, will deliver a presentation on 'The Growth Secrets of Japan's Leading Board Game Authors Association and Japanese Brands.' Bond Yuan, who has overseen the publishing of numerous board games in China, will discuss 'The Current State and Production Know-how of the Chinese Board Game Market,' while Arno Steinwender, who won 'Board Game of the Year' last year, will share 'The Story Behind the Award-winning Title and Board Game Development Know-how.'
