Chairman Choi visited Mongolia at the official invitation of Ochir Khuyag, President of the National University of Mongolia, accompanied by scholarship foundation executives including Junmyung Jung, former President of Samsung Electronics Japan, Gaksoo Shin, former Ambassador to Japan, Daeseok Choi, Honorary Professor at Ewha Womans University, Jiyoung Park, Professor at Seoul National University, Jaesool Lee, former CEO of Deloitte, Eunseok Shim, former Director of Policy at the Ministry of Education, and Seungsu Kang, CEO of DS Investment Partners. The event was also attended by Hosun Lee, Dean of the Law School at the Korea Law Center, and Jungyeol Guk, President of the Korea-Mongolia Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
OK Baejeong Scholarship Foundation was recognized for its contribution to supporting scholarships, including the selection of 'OK Global Scholars' among students at the National University of Mongolia for 13 years since 2012. The National University of Mongolia expressed its gratitude to Chairman Choi and the foundation for helping outstanding students focus on their studies through the scholarship program and for contributing to talent exchange between the two countries.
At the event, the foundation awarded scholarship certificates to 15 newly selected 2025 OK Global Scholars. Former scholarship recipients, who are now active in Mongolian government agencies and the legal sector, also gathered for the occasion.
The National University of Mongolia was established in 1942 and is the most prestigious school in Mongolia. Over the past 13 years, a total of about 180 students have been selected as scholarship recipients. Previously, in 2015, Chairman Choi received an honorary doctorate from the National University of Mongolia in recognition of his contributions to the scholarship program.
Chairman Choi stated, "I am grateful to be able to contribute to nurturing talent that connects the two countries," and added, "I hope the scholars will create a virtuous cycle by giving back the support they received to the world, and the foundation will continue to seek practical ways to support Mongolia."
The foundation selects and awards scholarships to global students, including those from Mongolia (National University of Mongolia), Indonesia (University of Indonesia), the United States (University of Hawaii), and overseas Korean students recommended by the World Korean Business Convention (YBLN). In Korea, the foundation operates scholarship programs to support promising athletes such as the OK Middle and High School Rugby Scholarship and the OK Golf Scholarship. It also runs the 'OK Baejeong Scholarship,' the largest living expense scholarship program in Korea, which provides up to 2 million KRW per month until graduation for outstanding university (and graduate) students. To date, the foundation has provided approximately 32 billion KRW to around 8,000 scholarship recipients.
