According to Philippine media outlet Philstar on July 2, former President Duterte recently told women close to him, "Find a boyfriend with a lot of credit cards."

His eldest son, House Representative Paolo Duterte, said in a video interview posted on the Facebook page of former Malacanang spokesperson Harry Roque, "This is a message to my father's girlfriends," and added, "I know he has 13 girlfriends just in Davao. (The former president) told them to find another man with a lot of credit cards."

Other children of former President Duterte have also mentioned his lovers in the past. Sebastian Duterte, Vice Mayor of Davao City, said on his social media, "These women (the former president's lovers) have influenced my father's life and heart." He continued, "No one is above anyone else, and that includes my mother (Elizabeth Zimmerman). That's just how it is." Duterte's daughter Veronica also revealed on social media that "there are women who claim to be my father's lover and try to approach me."

Representative Paolo said, "Former President Duterte asked whether Vice President Sara Duterte would visit Davao City to address the city's needs." He added, "When I told him that Vice President Sara is going to Davao and is responding to invitations, (the former president) did not ask about Sara's trial issue." He continued, "My father has become very thin, but his mind is still clear."

Meanwhile, former President Duterte was arrested at Manila Airport in the Philippines in March and is currently being held at the International Criminal Court (ICC) detention center in The Hague, Netherlands. He is accused of committing large-scale extrajudicial killings under the pretext of the war on drugs from 2011, when he was mayor of Davao City, through 2019, during his presidency.
