"Addressing the Childcare Gap for Dual-Income Families"
Gwangsan District in Gwangju is expanding the operating hours of its Community Childcare Sharing Center to address the childcare gap faced by dual-income households. On July 3, Gwangsan District announced that, starting in July, the first Community Childcare Sharing Center located in Songjeong-dong will extend its operations to include Saturdays.
Previously, the Community Childcare Sharing Center was open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays. However, to better accommodate dual-income families, it will now also be open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Gwangsan District explained that it aims to strengthen the center’s role as a community care space during weekends.
The Community Childcare Sharing Center is a space that anyone raising a child can freely use together with their children. It serves as an open community where caregivers can share parenting information, participate in neighborly mutual aid activities, and alleviate the burdens of childcare through communication.
