Since enacting an ordinance in 2022 to create a child-friendly city, the district has systematically established the foundation for promoting children's rights by securing dedicated personnel, forming a child policy participation group, conducting surveys on child-friendliness and collecting public opinions, operating children's rights education programs, and developing strategic plans.

In addition, the district is actively pursuing practical child policies, such as increasing the number of public indoor playgrounds to seven by the end of the year, operating six Our Neighborhood Care Centers, and running five youth community spaces called "Dinggadong."

A "Child-Friendly City" refers to a city that fulfills the four fundamental rights of children specified in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child?survival, protection, development, and participation?and provides policies, administration, and environments that allow children under the age of 18 to grow up safely and happily. The certification period lasts for four years, from June 5, 2024, to June 4, 2029.

Ryu Gyeonggi, head of Jungnang-gu, stated, "This certification is a valuable achievement created together with our residents," and added, "We will build a city where children can grow up happily."
