Tropical Nights Continue in Inland and East Coast Areas
Avoid Outdoor Activities During the Day Amid Heat Wave Advisory
On July 3, the heatwave is expected to continue across the country. In some areas, the perceived temperature is forecast to soar to 35 degrees Celsius.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the morning low on July 3 will range from 23 to 28 degrees Celsius, and the daytime high will range from 30 to 36 degrees Celsius. These temperatures are significantly higher than the seasonal average.
Among major cities, Daegu is expected to record the highest temperature at 36 degrees Celsius. This will be followed by Gangneung at 35 degrees, Daejeon at 34 degrees, Gwangju and Busan at 33 degrees, Seoul at 32 degrees, and Incheon at 30 degrees.
In Gyeonggi Province, the east coast of Gangwon Province, the Chungcheong region, the southern regions, and the eastern part of Jeju Island, the perceived temperature will rise close to 35 degrees Celsius, resulting in sweltering heat. In inland and east coast areas, tropical nights are also expected to continue.
Clouds will cover the country in the morning, but skies will gradually clear in the afternoon. In northern Gyeonggi Province and northern Yeongseo in Gangwon Province, there may be light rain from dawn until the morning.
Dense fog will also occur in some areas. On the northern coast of Chungnam, the coast of Jeonnam, and the coast of Gyeongnam, visibility may drop below 200 meters due to thick fog until the morning.
At sea, waves in the coastal waters of the East Sea, West Sea, and South Sea will be relatively calm, ranging from 0.5 to 1.0 meters. In offshore areas, wave heights will range from 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the East Sea and West Sea, and from 0.5 to 1.0 meters in the South Sea.
An official from the Korea Meteorological Administration advised, "As the heat wave warning remains in effect, it is necessary to avoid outdoor activities during the daytime and to stay well hydrated. In particular, children, the elderly, and pregnant women are especially vulnerable to heat-related illnesses and should take extra precautions."
