"Just One Watermelon for Free Delivery"... Lotte Super Launches Summer Free Delivery Service

Available at 135 Stores Nationwide Until August 31
Reflecting the Characteristics of Supermarket Channels with Many Walk-in Customers

Lotte Super, a supermarket chain (SSM), announced on the 3rd that it will offer a "Summer Free Delivery" service at approximately 135 locations nationwide from this month until August 31. This initiative aims to enhance shopping convenience, taking into account the high number of customers who shop on foot.

The Summer Free Delivery service allows customers to receive free delivery with no minimum purchase amount when buying just one of five designated heavy items, including watermelon and bottled water. The minimum requirement for free delivery is one watermelon, one bag of rice (at least 4kg), one pack of toilet paper (at least 24 rolls), one laundry detergent (at least 3kg), or one pack of bottled water.


Lotte Super plans to increase perceived shopping convenience for walk-in customers and drive sales growth through the free delivery service. In fact, stores that offered free delivery last year saw their cumulative sales from July 1 to August 31, 2024, rise by approximately 30% compared to the same period the previous year.


Additionally, to further improve shopping convenience for customers living farther away, Lotte Super is expanding the delivery coverage area to over 1km at select locations, including the Chuncheon and Eunma branches. The Chuncheon branch is broadening its delivery range to target customers living at a distance, reflecting the lower population density of the local market. At the Eunma branch, the delivery area has been expanded due to high demand for bulk purchases of heavy items such as bottled water, given the concentration of academies and apartment complexes nearby. Lotte Super expects that expanding the delivery area will attract new customers and lead to increased sales compared to before.


Kim Aejeong, head of the Store Support Team at Lotte Mart and Super, said, "We prepared this 'Summer Free Delivery Service' in consideration of the SSM channel's focus on delivery convenience," and added, "Since customers can receive free delivery regardless of the purchase amount even when buying just one heavy item such as watermelon or rice, we hope many people will take advantage of this service during the summer."
