In his commemorative speech, Jeon Jinseon, Governor of Yangpyeong County, stated, "I would like to thank everyone who dedicated themselves to the construction of the Sinwon Water Purification Plant, and I am deeply grateful to the residents who endured inconveniences during the construction period. Based on the Sinwon Water Purification Plant, we will accelerate the expansion of the water supply area and urban development."
The Sinwon Water Purification Plant began construction in December 2020, underwent a water source conversion on June 12, 2025, and was completed on June 20 of the same month. With a total project cost of 69.8 billion KRW, the plant is now capable of producing 11,000 tons of tap water per day. Currently, it is supplying clean and stable tap water to the eastern area of Yangseo-myeon, as well as Okcheon-myeon, Yangpyeong-eup (Obin, Deokpyeong, Shinae), Gangsang-myeon, and Gangha-myeon.
Meanwhile, Yangpyeong County expects that the completion of the Sinwon Water Purification Plant will strengthen the county's overall water supply capacity, and that it will be able to proactively address the needs of previously unserved areas and the demand for tap water in large-scale development projects in the future.
