Mayor Lee announced this plan at a press conference marking the third anniversary of his inauguration, held on the 2nd at Osan Osaek Culture and Sports Center.

Mayor Lee stated, "Over the past three years, I have focused on establishing the framework of the city and designing spaces that will shape the lives and future of our citizens," and added, "The remaining one year of the 8th term will be a time to break ground on the planned projects."

Since taking office in 2022, Mayor Lee has pushed forward with several major development projects, including the designation of Segyo 3 District, the creation of a semiconductor-specialized technovalley, approval of the development plan for the Unamttul AI City urban development project, development of idle land in Naesammi-dong and the former Gyeseong Paper site near the station, and a mixed-use development of the terminal site in Segyo 1 District.

Notably, as a strategy to overcome the limitations of private-led development, Osan Urban Corporation was established last year. For the remainder of his term, Mayor Lee plans to lay the foundation for the city's goal of becoming a "self-sustaining connected city with a population of 500,000" by advancing these projects to more concrete stages.

He also stated his intention to expedite organizational restructuring and expansion in response to increasing administrative demands. Previously, the city secured an additional 9.5 billion KRW in standard labor costs for this purpose.

Mayor Lee reiterated his firm stance on ensuring the cancellation of the controversial logistics center project in Hwaseong Dongtan 2 District. He said, "We will prepare practical solutions to protect the health and environmental rights of Osan citizens," and added, "Beyond simply mediating conflicts, we will make this a case where the administration safeguards citizens' rights and interests."

Mayor Lee also indicated that he would seek solutions for major public facilities such as the Miniature Village and the Safety Experience Center, which were built indiscriminately in the past and continue to incur deficits. He said, "We need to consider whether these facilities are truly necessary for Osan," and added, "We cannot continue the structure of covering deficits with citizens' tax money."

Mayor Lee emphasized, "Going forward, I will not lose my original commitment from the time of my inauguration, and I will do my utmost to realize the future city of Osan as we prepare for the era of a 500,000 population."
