Explanation of Renewable Energy Project Profit Sharing and More
Jeonggwang County in South Jeolla Province announced on July 2 that it recently held the first public briefing session for residents on "Measures to Promote Resident Participation in Jeonggwang County's Renewable Energy Generation Projects" at the small theater of the Jeonggwang Culture and Arts Center.
This briefing session was organized as part of a research project to establish measures for promoting resident participation in renewable energy generation projects in Jeonggwang County. The session also aimed to enhance understanding of the resident participation system and profit-sharing methods in renewable energy generation projects, as well as to gather diverse opinions from residents and stakeholders during the system design process.
The briefing was attended by about 40 stakeholders, including residents, cooperative members, and power generation business operators. Participants listened to explanations about the direction of the system and had the opportunity to ask questions and make suggestions.
Jeonggwang County plans to comprehensively review the opinions of residents and stakeholders presented at the session and reflect them in the future institutionalization process. The county also plans to hold a second briefing session later this month, as well as small-scale sessions in various regions throughout the year.
A county official stated, "We plan to establish a 'Jeonggwang-style resident participation model' that will allow the actual sharing of renewable energy project profits with residents, and to institutionalize it through ordinances and enforcement regulations."
