Gwangju Urban Corporation announced on July 2 that it has signed a "business agreement for joint promotion of distributed energy projects" with TopSolar, KB Securities, Greenwell Construction, Doosan Fuel Cell, Suwan Energy, and Marine Energy to establish a self-sufficient energy industrial complex in the Advanced District 3.
The core of this project is the construction of a fuel cell power plant within the Advanced District 3 industrial complex. The goal is to create a foundation for energy self-sufficiency within the industrial complex through a distributed power generation system.
According to the agreement, Gwangju Urban Corporation will be responsible for project development and equity investment. TopSolar will handle design, procurement, construction (EPC), and equity investment. KB Securities will provide financial support and equity investment. Greenwell Construction will be in charge of equity investment. Doosan Fuel Cell plans to supply the main fuel cell equipment and provide LTSA services. Suwan Energy will purchase thermal energy, while Marine Energy will supply city gas.
The participating companies plan to use this collaboration to establish a model for a self-sufficient energy industrial complex and to contribute to the supply of thermal energy to residential complexes, as well as to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
Kim Seungnam, President of Gwangju Urban Corporation, stated, "We will do our utmost to ensure the successful implementation of the distributed energy project through this business agreement," and added, "We will take the lead in realizing Gwangju as a carbon-neutral, energy self-sufficient city by 2045."
