Mayor Ryu Kyunggi Vows to Build a Happier Jungnang... Special Events Through July 13

Highlighting Achievements by Sector and Sharing Future Strategies

On July 2, Jungnang-gu in Seoul announced that it has organized a two-week commemorative event to mark the beginning of the fourth year of the 8th popularly elected administration. The event aims to reflect on the district’s achievements so far and to share its future vision with residents.

Under the theme “Remarkable Growth, Brilliant Future,” the event will run from July 1 to July 13. It is designed as a platform for communication, highlighting the district’s overall changes and providing an opportunity for residents to discuss the future direction of the administration together.

The event began on July 1 with a memorial visit at Mangwoo Historical and Cultural Park. Ryu Kyunggi, mayor of Jungnang-gu, along with staff members, visited the graves of independence activist Yu Gwansun, Buddhist monk Han Yongun, and educator Bang Jeonghwan to reflect on the district’s journey over the past three years and to reaffirm their commitment to progress in the second half of the 8th administration.

Following this, a “Clean Governance Ordinance with Employees” session was held, where the mayor, labor union, and staff members engaged in an open discussion on integrity. Employees wrote questions for the mayor on post-it notes in advance, and the mayor answered selected questions on the spot, making the session interactive and fostering meaningful communication.

In the first-floor lobby of the district office, a special photo exhibition was held, showcasing seven years of district achievements from the 7th to the 8th administration, focusing on changes in residents’ daily lives. The exhibition visually conveys the philosophy and vision of Jungnang-gu by presenting its past, present, and future as a continuous narrative. It is open to the public throughout July.

During the commemorative period, the district will also host a variety of events to share policy achievements and future plans in different sectors, including the unveiling ceremony for the Child-Friendly City certification plaque (July 2), the Jungnang Education Development Town Hall Meeting and the 10th anniversary of the Lifelong Learning Center (July 4-5), the Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival results briefing (July 7), the completion ceremony for the Muk 2-dong Rose Culture Center (July 8), and a private redevelopment residents’ briefing session (July 11).

Additionally, community-based activities such as a “Homemade Dog Treats Workshop” on Jungnangmasil (July 9) and a morning alley cleanup with the mayor will be held, allowing residents to experience the district’s commitment to closer, more responsive governance in their daily lives.

Mayor Ryu Kyunggi stated, “Jungnang-gu has spent meaningful time achieving real changes together with our residents. Going forward, we will continue to build a greater and happier Jungnang, where all residents feel pride, based on communication and participation.”
