The Hoam Foundation annually invites leading scholars from Korea and abroad to deliver lectures that provide advanced scientific knowledge to young people across the country and inspire them to envision their dreams and futures. Starting this year, the foundation has decided to select one major city each year to host a special lecture as part of a nationwide tour. The upcoming lecture in Busan was planned accordingly.

The speakers will be Moungi Bawendi, MIT Distinguished Professor and 2023 Nobel Prize in Chemistry laureate, and Hyeon Taekhwan, Seoul National University Distinguished Professor and 2012 Samsung Hoam Prize recipient. Both professors will give lectures on the topics of quantum dots and nanotechnology, followed by a Q&A session. The foundation especially expects the event to be meaningful, as Professor Bawendi will be giving his first lecture to Korean youth.

Professor Hyeon will introduce the concept of nanotechnology under the theme 'Nanotechnology: How and What Will It Change in Our Lives?' and will explain the impact of nanotechnology on everyday life and the broader society through various application cases. Professor Bawendi, under the theme 'Quantum Dots: From Curiosity to Technology,' will share the life of a Nobel laureate, his own research journey, and explain the fascinating world of quantum dots. He will also discuss how this technology could change our future.

Kim Hwangsik, Chairman of the Hoam Foundation, said, "This lecture is especially meaningful as it is being held for the first time in Busan for the youth of the Busan and Gyeongnam regions," adding, "I hope this will be a valuable opportunity for young people to encounter the passion and spirit of challenge of world-renowned scholars in science and to nurture their own dreams."

The lecture is open not only to youth but also to university students and researchers in related fields. Anyone who registers in advance through the Hoam Foundation website can attend free of charge. After the event, the lecture video will be available on the Hoam Foundation's official YouTube channel, allowing anyone to watch it freely.
