Hwasun Jeonnam National University Hospital announced on July 2 that it has completed the expansion and remodeling of its injection room to create a more patient-centered treatment environment. The injection room, which previously had 94 beds, has been expanded by adding 49 more beds, bringing the total to 143 beds.
Through this large-scale remodeling, the hospital expects to reduce patient waiting times and improve nursing staff efficiency, thereby enhancing the overall quality of care.
To mark the recent remodeling of the injection room, Hwasun Jeonnam National University Hospital held an opening ceremony and officially began operations. The ceremony was attended by key hospital leaders, including Director Min Jeongjun, Deputy Director Kang Hocheol, General Affairs Director Seong Myeongseok, Planning Director Bae Hongbeom, and executives and staff from the nursing department.
With this construction, the original injection room has been renamed "Injection Room 1." Beds that were previously reserved exclusively for the day ward can now also be used by general injection patients, which is expected to increase bed turnover rates and reduce waiting times.
In particular, the newly established "Injection Room 2" is dedicated to day ward patients receiving chemotherapy, enabling more focused and specialized care in a more comfortable environment. The simple injection room, previously located on the second floor, has been moved to the third floor to improve efficiency in space layout and staff management.
The reception system has also been upgraded. A kiosk-based smart reception system has been introduced to reduce patient waiting times for registration and allow patients to check their waiting order. This has significantly improved patient convenience and reduced the workload for staff handling reception and guidance tasks.
The hospital has also strengthened its emergency response systems. Ten new patient monitors have been installed, and medical gas pipelines have been secured at a ratio of one per two beds, enabling faster responses in emergency situations.
Additionally, the presence of many windows allows for natural lighting and good ventilation, providing psychological comfort to both patients and their caregivers. The workflow for nurses and the arrangement of medical equipment have also been completely reorganized, resulting in improved work efficiency and significantly enhanced accuracy and speed of injection procedures.
Director Min Jeongjun stated, "The injection room is a key area where patients visiting the hospital receive care in a short period of time, and it plays a central role in the overall flow of treatment at the hospital. We will continue to prioritize the safety and comfort of each and every patient, dedicating ourselves to ongoing facility improvements and the enhancement of nursing services."
