This visit was part of an on-site exchange program jointly organized by the UNICEF Child-Friendly Cities Initiative Local Government Council and the Korean Committee for UNICEF. The program was designed to identify exemplary cases of creating child-friendly educational environments and to strengthen the foundation for international cooperation.
During his visit to the UNICEF Mongolia office, Mayor Im attended a safeguarding education session and discussed ways to cooperate with the organization to realize children's rights.
Mayor Im stated, "The 'Green School' model, which places children's rights at the center and links climate environment with educational facilities, is highly significant. Siheung City will also accelerate its environmentally friendly policies to improve the quality of life for children."
Mayor Im also visited School No. 74 in the Argunt area on the outskirts of Ulaanbaatar. This school was established with support from the council's fund as a 'Green School.' The school is equipped with a solar power generation system, an indoor air quality monitoring system, water purification facilities, and facilities for inclusive education for students with disabilities.
Mayor Im said, "Building an eco-friendly educational environment for the future of children is not an option but a necessity. Based on continued cooperation with the international community, we will create a truly child-friendly city where the environment and rights are harmoniously respected."
