World Share Provides New Homes for 10 Families Affected by Fire in the Philippines

The international relief and development NGO World Share announced on July 2 that it has provided new homes to 10 families in Duhama Village, Davao, Mindanao Island, Philippines, who lost their homes due to a sudden fire.

This project, which took place over approximately five months, focused on restoring homes that were completely destroyed by the fire and improving living conditions. Immediately after the fire, World Share urgently dispatched local partners to quickly assess the damage, and carried out reconstruction work for all 10 households in two phases. In cooperation with village residents, construction was carried out step by step, from basic groundwork to framing, roofing, and interior and exterior finishing. Local partners regularly checked the supply of materials and site management, maintaining close communication with the headquarters throughout the process.

In addition, considering that not only the affected families but also boarding youths who lived with them suffered significant losses, World Share provided a total of 33 residents with essential furniture and daily necessities, such as bedding, bed mattresses, wardrobes, and gas stoves, tailored to the needs of each household.

Jang Hyejun, Head of the International Projects Department at World Share, said, "We provided practical support that goes beyond simply rebuilding houses, enabling residents to regain their independence and return to their daily lives."

The mother of a child referred to as 'Selin' (pseudonym), who received housing support, expressed her gratitude, saying that she is truly thankful to be able to live safely with her children again. She shared that when the village first burned down, she felt hopeless, but now she has regained the strength to work and raise her children.
