Heatwave Warnings Issued for 12 Areas Including Gwangju,
Tropical Nights Continue

As the heatwave advisory continues for the sixth consecutive day, Gwangju and Jeonnam are expected to experience hot weather with occasional clouds on July 2. According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration, the daytime high temperature is forecast to range from 30 to 34 degrees Celsius, with the perceived temperature reaching around 35 degrees Celsius in some areas.
Currently, heatwave advisories are in effect for 22 cities and counties in Gwangju and Jeonnam. Among them, heatwave warnings have been issued for 12 cities and counties, including Gwangju, Naju, Damyang, and Gokseong, while heatwave advisories are in place for 11 cities and counties, including Yeosu, Haenam, and Mokpo. The Korea Meteorological Administration expects the hot weather to continue for the time being, with no significant rainfall forecast.
A tropical night phenomenon, where the temperature does not drop below 25 degrees Celsius overnight, was also observed. As of 6 a.m. on this day, the lowest temperatures recorded were 26.3 degrees Celsius in Yeosu, 25.3 degrees Celsius in Gwangju, and 25.4 degrees Celsius in Gangjin. An official from the meteorological administration advised, "Since the risk of heat-related illnesses is high, please refrain from outdoor activities and pay close attention to your health."
