Princess Kako of Japan, niece of Emperor Naruhito and often called the "Diana of the East" for her bright and sophisticated image, was spotted dozing in an economy class seat on a flight. On June 29, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that Princess Kako had toured eight cities in Brazil over 11 days, from June 5 to June 15, at the invitation of the Brazilian government. This visit was part of official events commemorating the 130th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Brazil.

Amid this, a video uploaded to social media on June 12 drew significant attention among Japanese netizens. The footage captured Princess Kako sitting in an economy class seat on a domestic Brazilian flight, leaning against the wall and sleeping with her eyes closed while the cabin lights were off. Royal aides appeared to be seated next to her. The video quickly spread online. Japanese netizens commented, "It's only natural to be tired with such a schedule; she's amazing," "She looks just like a porcelain doll," and "Given the grueling itinerary, visiting several cities in a single day, this is understandable." Some netizens expressed concerns about privacy, saying, "It's inappropriate to film someone's private moment without permission." In response, the Grand Steward of the Imperial Household Agency stated at a press conference on June 13, "It is undesirable to share videos filmed without permission during someone's private time," urging caution regarding the sharing of such footage.

Meanwhile, Princess Kako, who enjoys high popularity in Japan, used to enjoy figure skating as a child and won a local competition in 2007. She later studied performing arts and psychology at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom and is also proficient in sign language. Since her older sister, Princess Mako, left the royal family in 2021 after marrying a commoner, Princess Kako has participated in various official duties and charity activities, diligently fulfilling her role as a member of the Japanese imperial family.

Additionally, Princess Kako has recently become a prominent figure in the Japanese fashion scene. A post on social media featuring information about the white camellia dress she wore during her Brazil visit garnered nearly 700,000 views. Outfits she wore during her visit to Greece last year, such as a dark blue short-sleeved knit top and white wide pants, also sold out completely.
