Gwangju University and the LH Gwangju Jeonnam Regional Headquarters announced on July 2 that they have established an industry-academia cooperation system to revitalize LH-participated urban regeneration and urban maintenance projects in Gwangju and Jeonnam.

The two institutions signed a memorandum of understanding on July 1 in the main conference room on the third floor of the LH Gwangju Jeonnam Regional Headquarters, pledging industry-academia cooperation for urban revitalization, including maintenance projects and the development of related policies.

In addition, they agreed to work together to support and operate surveys and resident participation programs to revitalize LH-participated urban regeneration project districts, and to support the training of urban regeneration professionals, such as by providing field training for the "Gwangju University Urban Regeneration Professional Training Project Group" during the implementation of LH-participated urban regeneration projects.

President Kim Dongjin stated, "This agreement is significant not only for the development of both institutions but also for the survival and urban regeneration of the region," adding, "We will actively cooperate so that the pace of urban regeneration in the region does not fall behind, and we will fulfill our role as a regional private university that can create win-win outcomes."

Director Yoo Byungyong said, "Gwangju University is the only university in the Honam region selected for the urban regeneration talent training project, with specialized departments, graduate schools, and expert professors. The university contributes not only through specialized research but also by fostering practical professionals," adding, "Through this agreement, we hope to further vitalize urban regeneration and make a significant contribution to the local community."
