The Korea Science and Technology Media Center Establishment Committee and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity announced on the 1st that they reached this decision at the inaugural general meeting held at the Korea Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul. Noh Jeonghye, professor emeritus at Seoul National University, was appointed as the first chairperson of the center, and nine additional board members and one auditor were also appointed as executives.

The center is an organization that supports science journalism by quickly delivering scientists' perspectives to the media when science and technology-related issues arise. Similar organizations operate under the name "Science Media Center" in six countries, including the United Kingdom and Australia. The establishment of the center has been in preparation since last year, following confirmation of government budget support.

At the inaugural general meeting, key matters such as the appointment of executives, the articles of incorporation, and business plans were decided based on the "Comprehensive Plan for Supporting the Establishment of the Korea Science and Technology Media Center" prepared by the establishment committee.
