‘Geumcheon District to Hold "Long-Term Care Institution Workers' Day" Event on July 4’
On July 2, Geumcheon District Office in Seoul announced that it has prepared a performance, a healing lecture, and an encouragement payment of 100,000 won for workers at long-term care institutions in the district to express gratitude for their hard work.
Yuseong Hoon, head of Geumcheon District Office, visited Sarangchae Nursing Home last May to inspect the on-site facilities and talk with workers related to the nursing institution. Provided by Geumcheon District Office.
This year, for the first time, Geumcheon District will provide an encouragement payment of 100,000 won to long-term care workers, in accordance with the ordinance on improving the treatment and status of long-term care personnel. A total of 174 workers who meet certain employment criteria are eligible for this support in 2025.
As the pace of aging in Korea is rapidly accelerating, the importance of long-term care workers is increasing. However, there is a growing need for improvement due to poor working conditions and low compensation. In response, the district explained that it is seeking ways to improve the working environment and welfare of long-term care institution workers.
In addition, at 2 p.m. on July 4, the district will hold the "2025 Geumcheon District Long-Term Care Institution Workers' Day" event at the district office. During the event, exemplary long-term care workers will be recognized, and outstanding care cases within Geumcheon District will be shared.
The event will include a congratulatory performance, and comedian Kim Jucheol will give a lecture designed to bring laughter and foster empathy among the workers. The district plans to invite approximately 400 long-term care institution workers, including care assistants and social workers.
Yuseong Hoon, head of Geumcheon District Office, stated, "Long-term care institution workers are the core personnel responsible for care in our society, and improving their treatment directly leads to enhanced quality of care services. We will continue to provide ongoing attention and support so that long-term care institution workers can take pride in their work."
