Unable to Hold Plenary Sessions Under Single-Member System
President Lee Jaemyung approved the dismissal of Kim Taegyu, Vice Chairman of the Korea Communications Commission, on July 1.
According to the Korea Communications Commission, the commission received an official government personnel appointment notice from the Ministry of Personnel Management on this day, confirming that President Lee had approved the dismissal of Vice Chairman Kim.
Vice Chairman Kim submitted his resignation at the end of April for personal reasons. He had not reported to work since the end of May, but returned to duty on this day after nearly a month, and his dismissal was approved on the same day.
With this, the Korea Communications Commission is now officially under the sole leadership of Chairperson Lee Jinsook. Under a single-member system, the commission cannot hold a plenary session.
It is reported that on this day, Chairperson Lee requested President Lee during a Cabinet meeting to nominate a member of the commission to be appointed by the president.
