Yangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on July 1 that it will officially begin operating the 'Administrative Work Automation (RPA: Robotic Process Automation) System' from this July, aiming to improve the efficiency of simple and repetitive administrative tasks.
The 'RPA System' is a platform where software robots automatically handle routine tasks that employees have performed repeatedly. Since October last year, the city has been planning the introduction of the RPA system. In the first half of this year, it conducted a staff demand survey and interviews with those in charge. Through this process, four major tasks with a large number of beneficiaries were selected as key projects: calculation of business trip expenses, duty shift notifications, advance and reminder notifications for civil complaint processing, and release of delinquency seizures. From January to June of this year, the system was built and piloted in stages, and it is now being officially operated.
By processing these tasks through the 'RPA System,' stable task management can be ensured even in the absence of responsible staff, and it is estimated that approximately 2,400 hours of work time can be saved annually.
As a result, employees are expected to focus their capabilities on core duties, thereby significantly improving work performance.
In particular, the introduction of a 24-hour automated system for releasing delinquency seizures?the first of its kind in the country?enables same-day processing whenever payments are made on delinquent cases. This is regarded as an innovative achievement that enhances convenience for civil petitioners.
Yangju City plans to support the adaptation of general affairs and accounting personnel in each department through RPA training in July, and will conduct a staff satisfaction survey in November to review operational performance and areas for improvement.
Mayor Kang Suhyeon stated, "We expect the introduction of the RPA system to drive innovation in administrative work and elevate the level of civil services," adding, "We will continue to realize smart administration through systematic management and further enhancement of system functions."
