The Uijeongbu Urban Education Foundation is an institution established by merging the existing Uijeongbu Lifelong Learning Center and Uijeongbu Youth Foundation. Its core goals are to realize lifelong education for each stage of life and to nurture talent that will lead future society. The city plans to use the launch of this foundation to lay the groundwork for a sustainable urban environment where all citizens can enjoy learning and growth.

Last March, the city began operating an expert working group to improve the organizational efficiency of its affiliated institutions. It also conducted an organizational diagnosis of its public agencies, prepared integration plans and operational guidelines, and carried out other systematic preparations.

During this process, the city established a basic plan for integration, operated a dedicated integration task force, and held meetings with affiliated institutions as well as citizen briefings to gather a wide range of opinions. In December of the same year, the city solidified the institutional foundation for the launch of the foundation by promulgating the 'Ordinance on the Establishment and Operation of the Uijeongbu Urban Education Foundation.'

This year, the city entered into full-scale administrative integration procedures, convened a board meeting to integrate the foundation's articles of incorporation and regulations, and completed approval of the articles and corporate registration.

In particular, to reflect the voices of citizens, the city held a CI (corporate identity) contest open to the public and operated an urban education policy working group that included youth, middle-aged and senior citizens, as well as education experts. Through these efforts, the foundation was able to achieve broad social consensus on its mission, vision, and key tasks.

The launch of the Uijeongbu Urban Education Foundation not only enhances the efficiency and substance of institutional operations through the integration of the two existing foundations, but also carries the innovative significance of establishing the nation's first integrated public service system for lifelong education throughout all stages of life.

Through this, the city aims to realize lifelong education for every stage of life, present a vision for urban education encompassing both lifelong learning and youth development, and accelerate the establishment of a Uijeongbu-style urban education support system.

The Uijeongbu Urban Education Foundation plans to hold its official launch ceremony along with the announcement of its vision and mission in mid-July.

Going forward, the foundation is expected to play a central role as the control tower for lifelong education, not only promoting lifelong learning and supporting the healthy growth of youth, but also expanding education policies that encompass the entire city.

Mayor Donggeun Kim stated, "The launch of the Uijeongbu Urban Education Foundation is an important milestone for our city as we move toward becoming a place where all citizens learn and grow together to achieve sustainable prosperity. I ask for the strong interest and active participation of all citizens so that Uijeongbu can leap forward as a future-oriented city of learning and growth."
