Yoon Requests to Reschedule Special Prosecutor Appearance for Insurrection Case to 10 a.m.

Request to Postpone Appearance Time and for a Summons Specifying Charges

Former President Yoon Suk-yeol's legal team has reportedly requested that the special prosecutor investigating the insurrection case adjust the requested appearance time on July 5 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

According to legal sources on July 1, Yoon's team asked the special prosecutor to postpone the appearance time by one hour on the condition that he appear on July 5, and also requested a formal summons specifying the charges. This effectively indicates Yoon's intention to comply with the special prosecutor's face-to-face investigation scheduled for July 5.

However, Yoon's team maintains that, in order to ensure his right to defense, the investigation schedule must be communicated through a written summons that clearly states the charges under investigation.

They explained that during the first face-to-face investigation on June 28, they had not anticipated that allegations related to the Cabinet meeting would be addressed, which had restricted Yoon's ability to exercise his right to defense.

Previously, after the first face-to-face investigation, the special prosecutor requested Yoon to appear again at 9 a.m. on June 30 to address remaining matters.

In response, Yoon's team requested a change in the appearance date to after July 3, and the special prosecutor partially accepted this request, rescheduling Yoon's appearance for 9 a.m. on July 1.

Yoon's team then submitted another statement requesting the appearance date be postponed to after July 5 and did not comply with the investigation scheduled for that day.

The special prosecutor has regarded Yoon's absence as a refusal to comply with the investigation and has rescheduled the appearance for 9 a.m. on July 5, notifying Yoon's team accordingly.
