Cultural Festivals and Nighttime Photo Zones
Enjoy a Pleasant Summer by the Sea
Gijang County in Busan (Mayor Jung Jongbok) has begun preparations to welcome summer vacationers in earnest.
The county will open Ilgwang and Imrang Beaches for two months, from July 1 to August 31, operating various support systems to ensure the safety and convenience of visitors.
The opening ceremonies, held at 11 a.m. at Ilgwang Beach and at 1:30 p.m. at Imrang Beach on this day, marked the official start of the beach season, with local residents and tourists in attendance.
Jung Jongbok, Mayor of Gijang County (ninth from the left), and key guests are conducting the opening ceremony of Ilgwang Beach.
During the opening period, Gijang County will operate one beach administration service center at each of the two beaches. County office staff and medical personnel will be stationed at these centers at all times to provide emergency first aid and respond to various civil complaints.
The county is also making thorough efforts to manage convenience facilities. Twenty-four environmental maintenance personnel will be deployed to continuously inspect and manage key facilities such as restrooms, foot-washing stations, and showers, aiming to create a pleasant environment.
This year, a nighttime photo zone with special lighting is being introduced for the first time, and a pilot installation of a harmful organism barrier net will be set up at Ilgwang Beach. These are new initiatives that take into account both visitor safety and interactive experiences.
A variety of cultural events will further enhance the summer atmosphere.
At Ilgwang Beach, the Gijang Gaetmaeul Festival (July 31 to August 3) and the Ilgwang Romantic Song Festival (August 13) will be held, while at Imrang Beach, the Gijang Imrang Summer Music Festival (August 15-16) will offer a festive blend of sea and music.
Mayor Jung Jongbok emphasized, "I hope that tourists visiting Gijang will enjoy not only the beautiful sea but also a full range of food, sights, and activities this summer," adding, "The county will focus its efforts on operating safe and clean beaches."
