Expanding Youth Employment Through Fair and Job-Centered Recruitment
Equitable Hiring to Be Promoted in the Second Half of the Year
Korea Western Power announced on July 1 that it has hired the largest number of new employees for the first half of the year since its founding. This achievement reflects the company's efforts to align with the government's policy to expand youth employment, as well as its commitment to regional balance and gender equality.
The recruitment covered six fields, including mechanical, electrical, civil engineering, and administrative positions. The company hired a total of 112 new employees, which is 10 more than originally planned.
This hiring process was based on the company's HR principles of fairness and empathy, social value, and job-centered recruitment. The company implemented a blind recruitment system with no restrictions on educational background or age. Additionally, it introduced the "Youth Empathy (No Pay·No Stress) Interview," which allowed candidates to attend interviews without formal attire, thereby reducing psychological pressure on applicants.
During the selection process, the company focused on verifying job performance capabilities by conducting both National Competency Standards (NCS)-based practical assessments and evaluations of professional knowledge. In particular, at the interview stage, the company placed emphasis on deeply assessing candidates' critical thinking and real-world problem-solving abilities, prioritizing the selection of individuals based on practical skills.
Lee Jeongbok, CEO of Korea Western Power, stated, "We will actively support our new employees so they can grow into future-oriented talents," adding, "In the second half of the year, we will also promote equitable recruitment targeting self-reliant youth and people with disabilities, taking the lead in realizing social value."
