More than 700 people attended the event, including Mayor Park Hyungjun, city executives, deputy heads of district and county offices, heads of public corporations and affiliated organizations, and city employees.
This regular staff meeting was organized to reflect on the three-year journey to make Busan a city where people would want to live even if they were born again, and to encourage employees who have dedicated themselves to improving the quality of life for citizens and helping Busan grow into a global city.
Mayor Park stated, "Over the past three years, Busan has steadily increased investment and jobs, while improving urban competitiveness, brand value, and the quality of life for its citizens. We have also set directions and resolved long-stalled projects and difficult local issues one by one."
He continued, "Busan is changing rapidly, as evidenced by being selected as an excellent institution for youth policy evaluation for three consecutive years, establishing the Busan Future Industry Transition Fund, being chosen as the domestic candidate city for the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, and hosting world-class international conferences. Our achievement of the highest grade (SA) for two consecutive years in the pledge fulfillment evaluation is all thanks to the dedication of our public officials," he said, expressing his gratitude.
Mayor Park emphasized, "The key to overcoming the dominance of the capital region and the crises of low growth and low birth rates in Korea lies in Busan’s leap forward as a global hub city. Busan is on the right track, and we are moving forward with strength on this path."
He added, "The power to revitalize local regions lies with public officials working in the field. Enabling them to work with pride is the role of today’s central government, and such a wave will become the energy that moves all of Korea."
In conclusion, Mayor Park said, "Thanks to all of you, the dream of Busan as a global hub city is coming to fruition. I will continue the journey to change our destiny together with my colleagues toward a brighter future for Busan."
