"Multicultural Family Customization"... Gyeongnam Information College Gijang County Children's Meal Center Wins Excellence Award in Busan City Performance Evaluation

Recognized for Efforts in Community Collaboration

The Children's Meal Management Support Center in Gijang County, operated by Gyeongnam Information College, received the Excellence Award in the "2024 Children's Meal Management Support Center Performance Evaluation" organized by Busan City.

This evaluation comprehensively assessed the annual operational performance and program effectiveness of children's meal management support centers in the Busan area. The Gijang County Center received high marks for its language-customized dietary education for multicultural families and its efforts to expand community collaboration.

The center collaborated with the Gijang County Family Center to produce and distribute storybooks and animations in six languages: English, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, and Filipino. In addition, it operated a cooking class program for multicultural families called "My Little Chef," focusing on creating an environment where multicultural children can naturally experience Korean food culture and receive education without language barriers.

The produced content was donated to libraries and multicultural family support centers in the Busan area and is also available online through the official YouTube channel of the Food Safety Management Institute, contributing to the spread of a healthy dietary culture.

Moon Sookhee, head of the center, said, "This award is a valuable achievement accomplished together by the university, multicultural families, and the local community," and added, "We will continue to strive to help practice healthy eating habits through tailored nutrition and hygiene education for users."

Gyeongnam Information College has operated the Gijang County Children's Meal Management Support Center since 2020, and having been selected again as the operating institution this year, will continue to run the center for five more years until 2029.
