On July 1, at the regular monthly commendation ceremony held at Deulbul Hall in the Seo-gu Office, Seo-gu selected both the Uncheon Children's Park Design Team and the Pungam-dong Children's Song Choir as groups that contributed to community revitalization and presented them with the district mayor's commendation.
The Uncheon Children's Park Design Team transformed an aging park and playground with the imagination and ideas of children. Led by village designer Kim Junghwa, all fourth-grade students of Uncheon Elementary School participated as members of the design team. Together with residents, experts, and public officials, they led the entire design process through discussions, surveys, and workshops. As a result, in May, the "Imagination Playground," featuring the "largest slide in Seo-gu" and a "27-meter-long zipline," was completed.
The design team students said, "The playground we imagined and drew in fourth grade has become a reality in front of our eyes after two years," and added, "We hope the playground and park we created together become a healing space for all community residents."
The Pungam-dong Children's Song Choir, established in 2024, has become a new cultural platform for the local community through regular practices every Saturday.
Starting with 10 elementary school students and now grown to 30 members, the choir has performed at events such as the "Month of Patriots and Veterans" commemorative ceremony, policy roundtable meetings, and joint community performances, engaging and communicating with local residents.
Choir leader Na Hyona (sixth grade, Sinam Elementary School) said, "Meeting friends and participating in community activities through singing, not studying, is a special experience and will become a happy memory."
Seo-gu District Mayor Kim Ikang stated, "Changing a community does not require great power or grand participation. Everyday moments like these, led by children and joined by residents, are the true starting point of change," and added, "We will continue to fully support the creation of a warm community culture that brings together all generations."
