Jeonju City Launches "Library Walk Stamp Tour"

40 Cultural Spaces Organized into 6 Themed Courses

Starting July 1, Jeonju City in North Jeolla Province will launch and operate the "Jeonju Library Walk Stamp Tour," which utilizes book-related cultural resources such as libraries, local bookstores, and cultural facilities.


This year, the city was selected for the "2025 Reading-Based Regional Revitalization Public Contest Project," hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Publication Industry Promotion Agency of Korea, securing 300 million won in national funding.

Based on this, the city plans to implement 19 projects, including the Jeonju Library Walk Stamp Tour, Workation Library Travel, Reading Together, Jeonju Bookstore Revitalization, and Senior Programs.


The newly established "Jeonju Library Walk Stamp Tour" is designed so that citizens can enjoy library journeys at their preferred time and in their own way. It consists of 40 libraries, local bookstores, and cultural spaces, organized into six themed courses.


Specifically, there are four walking courses and two courses that include visits to Wanju, allowing travelers visiting Jeonju, as well as people of all ages, to easily experience library journeys.


First, Course 1, the "First Greeting Course," follows the "Cheotmajung-gil" and covers a 5.5 km route starting from Jeonju Station, passing through Cheotmajung-gil Travelers’ Library, Chaekbang Nolji, Geumam Library, Well-Ripened Words, and Inhu Library.


Course 2, the "Outing Course," is called "Hanok Book Road," covering a 4.8 km route starting from Gyeonggijeon, passing through Hanok Village Library, Jeonju Walk, Dongmunheon Book Library, Hangane Bookstore, Hongji Bookstore, Daga Travelers’ Library, Poetry Bookstore Jorimji, Gaeksa, and Mulgyul Seosa.


Course 3, the "Walker Course," is called "Pungnyu Book Road," covering a 3 km journey starting from Seohak Art Village Library, and passing through Wansan Library, Bookstore Kafka, Chaekbo Bookstore, Todaktodak Bookstore, Acre Bookstore, Jeollagamyeong, and Daga Travelers’ Library.


Course 4, the "Flower Heart Course," is called "Jeonju Flower Heart Road," covering a 4 km route starting from Jeonju City Library Flower Heart, and passing through the Garden Culture Center, Honam Bookstore, Seosin Library, Seoshincheon, Cheongdong Book Cafe, and Morongji Library.


Courses 5 and 6 connect Jeonju’s book cultural spaces with Wanju’s cultural spaces. Specifically, Course 5, the "Beautiful Wanju Course," is called "Book Connection Road," and covers an 18 km route starting from Deokjin Park and Yeonhwajeong Library, passing through Geonjisan Forest Library and Zoo, Palbok Art Factory, Samnye Book Village, and Picture Book Museum.


Finally, Course 6, the "Slowly to Wanju Course," is called "Complete Book Road," and covers a 13 km journey starting from the local bookstore "Geu Some-e Gage," passing through Samcheon Library, Pyeonghwa Library, Haksan Forest Poetry Library, and Jeonbuk Provincial Art Museum.


Anyone can participate individually in the Jeonju Library Walk Stamp Tour after receiving a stamp tour book at a library within the course. Stamps can be collected at libraries marked with the stamp image.


Participants who complete the tour can use the QR code in the stamp tour book to take a survey and apply for completion prizes. By attaching a photo of the completed course, participants will receive a mobile book culture gift certificate worth 5,000 won per course. Choi Hyunchang, Director of the City Library Headquarters, stated, "The Jeonju Library Journey has contributed to raising awareness of the importance of libraries among citizens and the public nationwide through storytelling by library tour guides about Jeonju’s unique libraries. I hope the Jeonju Library Walk Stamp Tour will not only promote libraries but also expand reading culture among participants and lead to increased book purchases, thereby increasing the number of readers."
