Gyeongbuk Province Extends Deadline for 100 Million KRW 'International AI·Metaverse Video Contest'

Gyeongbuk Province has extended the submission deadline for the '2025 Gyeongbuk International AI·Metaverse Video Contest' by 15 days, from the original June 30 to July 15.


This extension is a response to the high level of interest in creative video content that integrates AI and metaverse technologies, as well as ongoing inquiries about participation. The goal is to allow more creators ample time to prepare and submit their works.

Applications can be submitted online through the official GAMFF website. Regardless of the number of entries, each individual or team may apply for up to two categories. However, if applying for the APEC Special Category, up to three categories may be entered simultaneously.


With a total prize pool of 100 million KRW, the contest will select 30 winning works across five categories: Creative Video (short films, animation), Character IP Utilization (game trailers, animation, webtoons), Advertising (video advertising, image publishing), Music Video, and the APEC Special Category (creative video, advertising, music video).


There are no restrictions on eligibility. Anyone interested in AI-based content creation?including elementary, middle, and high school students, university (and graduate) students, job seekers, designers, and content production studios?may participate individually or as a team, both domestically and internationally.


Entries will be judged by expert panels for each category, based on four criteria: creativity and innovation, technical excellence, thematic relevance, and emotional impact and immersion. The final winners will be selected through preliminary and final rounds.


The final winning works will be announced at the awards ceremony during the opening of the '2025 Gyeongbuk International AI·Metaverse Film Festival (GAMFF)' held at GumiCo (Gumi) on September 12. The winning works will also be screened and exhibited during the festival, which will take place from September 12 to 14 in Gumi, Pohang, Gyeongsan, and Cheongdo.


Choi Hyukjun, Director of the Meta AI Science Bureau of Gyeongbuk Province, stated, "Gyeongbuk is actively encouraging creative video expression utilizing AI and virtual convergence technologies, and aims to create a platform for exchange between creators and technologists both domestically and internationally. We hope that this extension of the submission deadline will encourage the participation of many outstanding works."
