Includes Key ESG Items: Current Status, Achievements, and Plans
Hyundai Motor Company announced on July 1 that it has published the "2025 Hyundai Motor Sustainability Report," which includes various efforts, achievements, and goals for sustainable management.
Since 2003, Hyundai Motor Company has published an annual sustainability report to disclose a wide range of financial and non-financial information related to its sustainable management practices and to actively communicate with domestic and international stakeholders, including investment institutions and customers.
The 2025 Hyundai Motor Sustainability Report is largely divided into three parts: Environment, Social, and Governance.
The Environment section introduces a variety of initiatives aimed at minimizing the company's environmental impact, including the signing of the largest power purchase agreement (PPA) in Korea for its domestic business sites, the status of renewable energy adoption at overseas sites, and investments and achievements in expanding renewable energy. It also presents the "Car to Car" project, which applies recycled materials from scrapped vehicles to new cars, as well as other initiatives to enhance vehicle circularity.
The Social section covers Hyundai Motor Company's new memberships in global initiatives such as the Responsible Business Alliance and Drive Sustainability to strengthen supply chain sustainability management, the operation of a supply chain risk screening program, the establishment of new diversity goals for employees, and the implementation of diversity and inclusion (D&I) training for global employees. These efforts are part of the company's broader activities to build an inclusive organizational culture.
The Governance section details the company's efforts and achievements to enhance the diversity and independence of its board of directors, including the introduction of lead independent directors and an independent board system to facilitate smooth communication among shareholders, the board, and management, as well as to strengthen the transparency of board decision-making. It also includes the appointment of two new female directors.
In addition, to improve the convenience and usability of the report for users, a separate factbook has been included, which contains trends in key quantitative data related to sustainable management over the past three years, as well as indices for global sustainability disclosure guidelines such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).
A Hyundai Motor Company representative stated, "Transparent and sincere communication with key stakeholders regarding the company's status, achievements, strategies, and goals related to sustainable management is becoming increasingly important. The sustainability report is not just a disclosure of information, but a roadmap and a promise for a better future, and we will continue to internalize and practice sustainable management with this in mind."
